Barium fluoride window(BaF2 Window) can be well used in spectral components, usually suitable for passive IR band (8~14μm) applications. For the same thickness, the transmission range further extends to approximately 1 mm in IR than calcium fluoride(CaF2). It is mainly used for IR applications and it has been noted that barium fluoride window with IR polishing may have limited transmission properties in VUVs made from low-purity BaF2 crystals. Unlike CaF2, BaF2 does not exist in its native state, and all materials must be chemically synthesized, making BaF2 production relatively expensive. Barium fluoride is prone to cracking and is very sensitive to thermal shock. It is polished and can be etched. Not all crystals are made from the highest grade chemicals; For IR-grade optics, lower specifications are sufficient and cost is reduced, however transmission in UV and VUV is limited. The highest purity barium fluoride VUV material can be considered a fast scintillation grade.

Optic-well is able to provide a wide selection of optical materials, and we can provide customization including windows, prisms, lenses, columns, tubes, tiny pieces, our MOQ can be from 1 piece according to product size or stock availability, also can provide mass production. While ensuring delivery and quality, it can save more procurement costs for customers.
